Itinerary
Dar Es Salaam - Mikumi NP - Ruaha - Udzungwa Mountains NP - Sanje waterfalls - Selous Game Reserve - Zanzibar
Day 1
Welcome to Tanzania
Arrive at Dar Es Salaam International Airport.. You will be met and transferred to the Mediteraneo Hotel for dinner and overnight. Here you will stay on a bed and breakfast basis giving you the freedom of the excellent restaurant or the local pub.
Day 2
Mikumi National Park
Transfer to Mikumi National Park, here you will have lunch before going on an afternoon game drive. Afternoon time to spot tree climbing lions and large numbers of giraffe, buffalo and elephant. Dinner and overnight at Kikoboga Wildlife Lodge.
Day 3
Ruaha National Park
Transfer to Ruaha National Park, here you will stay at Tandala Tented Camp. This is a superb camp with excellent food and service, where large herds of elephants frequently come to drink from the Swimming pool.
Day 4 to day 5
Exploring Ruaha NP
Full days exploring this spectacular park looking for Wild Dogs, cheetahs and super prides of up to 20 lions.
Day 6
Transfer to Udzungwa Mountains
Transfer to the Udzungwa Mountains National Park (via Ismila Stone Age Site), packed lunch en-route. You will overnight at Hondo Hondo Tented Camp where you will be entertained by a local drumming troupe performing beneath the stars.
Day 7
Hike into the Easter Arc Forest
Hike into the pristine Eastern Arc Forest famed for its high degree of endemism. You will climb, looking for endemic primates on the way, to the top of Sanje Waterfall where you can swim in plunge pools and see Africa Violets growing on the rocks. Picnic lunch on the rocks at the top of the 180m waterfall. In the afternoon you can descend slowly before returning to Hondo Hondo for dinner and overnight.
Day 8
Welcome to the largest conservation area of the world
Depart early and transfer to the Selous Game Reserve. Lunch en-route in Morogoro. The Selous is the largest conservation area in the world with the exception of the polar regions. Here you will stay at Sable Mountain Lodge.
Day 9
Selous Game Drive
Full day game drive exploring the Selous, dinner and overnight at Lake Manze Tented Camp.
Day 10
Walking and boat safari
Morning walking safari (with armed ranger for your protection), afternoon boat safari. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manze.
Day 11
Transfer to Paradise: Zanzibar archipelago
Final morning game drive, catch the 9.45 flight from Siwandu Airstrip in Selous to Zanzibar. Here you will be met and transferred to Zanzibar Dolphin View Paradise. This is a superb hotel in Kazimkazi, ideally placed for you to swim with the dolphins in the Menai Bay Marine Park.
Here you will stay on a half board basis giving you the chance to eat out on any excursions you may wish to go on (for example visiting the habituated troupe of endemic Zanzibar Red Colobus st Jozani National Park or a spice tour).
Day 12 to day 13
Indulge yourself...
Half board at your hotel, activities as you wish – or just relax on the idyllic private beach.
Day 14
Transfer to the Zanzibar International Airport for your flight home. End of Services.
